COMMUNITY-CENTERED ACTIVISM
TOGETHER WE STAND
We are a unified coalition of diverse Baltimore residents who aim to connect, build, and support our community to uphold democracy, justice, and human dignity. We hold local, state and national leaders accountable, protecting the vulnerable, and strengthening democratic participation. Through empathy, education, and nonviolent resistance, we build bridges across political and social divides—because real change happens when we listen, learn, and act together.
ABOUT
Indivisible Baltimore brings together people of all ages from all racial, religious, and political backgrounds, including marginalized communities. Together, we stand for democracy, justice, and human dignity and against authoritarianism.
We engage in authentic, tangible actions to address the needs of our entire community. And we look forward to adding your voice to the resistance chorus.
Lasting change happens when we show up with humility, empathy, and a willingness to listen.
We are a diverse community concerned about the health and welfare of American democracy, and we are committed to defending its principles of liberty, freedom of speech, justice, and the rule of law.
To hold leaders accountable for defending our democracy against authoritarianism, protecting the vulnerable, and strengthening participation in elections. Together, we aim to strengthen our democracy, create community, and focus our efforts to maximize impact on future elections.
We believe that Americans reaching across racial, religious, and political lines is the best way to build a thriving society—both culturally and economically. Equity for all does not come at the expense of anyone.
We focus on the following strategies:
- Political Pressure – We hold our elected officials accountable for stopping policies that harm our democracy, stalling what can’t be stopped, and pushing them to meet this moment by challenging abuses of power.
- Non-Violent Resistance – We engage in peaceful disobedience, protest, and civil action to bring public attention to issues that threaten to undermine American democracy.
- Democratic Participation – We take concrete steps toward building a healthy democracy, including supporting voter education and registration and fighting voter suppression. We regularly engage with our elected officials through town halls, office visits, and phone calls.
- Direct Action & Harm Reduction – We partner with existing local and national groups that share our goal of protecting American democracy.
- Empowerment – We help individuals become confident, informed citizens through education, training, and community support.
- Authenticity & Respect – We treat all people with dignity, including elected officials and those with whom we may disagree.
- Community & Healing – We create opportunities for members to interact with others from across the political spectrum through group activities and sharing stories and experiences. We recognize that inclusivity and communication are essential to bridging differences and building a truly resilient community.
Empathy is a virtue. While it underlies our approach, we know that compassion for humanity can sometimes become overwhelming. That’s why we focus on taking strategic actions that help each of us feel empowered.
We are determined to build a more resilient, more impenetrable democracy, one manageable step at a time.
