By law, all Federal agencies must solicit public comments before implementing major changes in regulations. BMore Indivisible submitted a public comment today opposing implementation of President Trump’s wide-reaching Executive Orders 13771 and 13777 directing broad deregulation across federal agencies, including Housing and Urban Development (HUD). With the guidance on policy from the Public Justice Center, they submitted a detailed public comment that provides six reasons for their opposition to dismantling of HUD regulations including the failure to adequately examine the costs and benefits of the regulations, the necessity for regulations to comply with the Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act, the need to protect the rights of tenants, and the importance of advancing equal access to housing free from discrimination.
